Basal cell carcinoma (LPR-5015)
GPs are at the forefront of diagnosing and managing non-melanoma skin cancers such as basal cell carcinoma (BCC). Using photographic illustrations, this lecture provides a refresher course in recognising the characteristic features of different types of BCCs, and outlines the management options.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognise the characteristic features of BCCs
  • Be able to recognise BCCs at different stages
  • Be able to recognise BCCs in different locations
  • Know the management options for BCCs
  • Know when to refer patients for specialist advice

This lecture has been developed by the PriMeD education team with expert assistance from Dr Jim Muir. Dr Muir is a Brisbane based dermatologist with a keen interest in developing interactive on-line education for general practitioners. We are particularly grateful to him for providing the photographs to illustrate this lecture.

Comprehensive information about the PriMeD education team and related PriMeD National Advisory committee can be found through the Portal Home pages.
